Aam Aadmi Party calls bail of former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, father of education revolution, as “victory of truth”

  • August 9, 2024

After 17 months behind bars in a fabricated case, the Supreme Court has finally granted bail to Delhi’s former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, the father of Delhi’s education revolution. The news sparked jubilant celebrations at Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) headquarters, where leaders hailed the ruling as a triumph of truth, drums echoed, and sweets were shared in an outpouring of joy.

Sunita Kejriwal, wife of AAP’s national convener and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, tweeted that there might be a delay in God’s proceedings, but no injustice. Meanwhile, Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann said that Manish Sisodia’s bail is a victory of truth. At the same time, many other senior leaders of AAP including MP Sanjay Singh, Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj, and MLA Durgesh Pathak reached Manish Sisodia’s house and congratulated his family.

On Manish Sisodia’s bail granted by the Supreme Court, Senior AAP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh said that the BJP central government repeatedly tried to harass us, but today we have got a big victory. This is the victory of truth. There was no fact or truth in this case, yet our leaders were forcibly kept in jail. Manish Sisodia was kept in jail for 17 months. Will Prime Minister Modi and BJP give an account of these 17 months of his life?

The AAP Rajya Sabha MP continued, “These 17 months could have been used to build more schools in Delhi and provide better education to children. These people wasted 17 precious months of Manish Sisodia’s life by implicating him in a fake case and torturing him physically and mentally. We have been saying from day one that there is nothing in this case. The people of the country and Delhi will answer this.”

Sanjay Singh further said that we express our heartfelt gratitude to the Supreme Court and bow our heads in the respect that after a long wait, we finally got justice. Every party worker is excited about this court’s decision in favour of AAP and Manish Sisodia. The citizens of Delhi and the country are happy with this decision because they believe that our leaders were subjected to coercion and injustice.

“Our leaders Arvind Kejriwal and Satyender Jain are still in jail. We hope that they will also get justice soon and that they will also be released. This decision of the Supreme Court is a tight slap on the face of the dictatorship of the Centre. The BJP people are even ready to kill him by getting him strangulated. BJP is a party full of hatred and contempt. There is a dictatorship in their behaviour and mentality,” he asserted.

AAP Delhi State Convenor Gopal Rai said that today is a very happy day for the country’s people. Manish Sisodia presented a great model of education in the entire country, but the dictatorial government of this country kept him in jail for 17 months without any facts and evidence in a fake case. Today the truth has won. All of us wholeheartedly thank the Supreme Court that even though it is late, the right decision has been made.

Welcoming the decision of the Supreme Court, senior AAP leader and Cabinet Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj said that the Supreme Court has set an important example for the judiciary of the entire country today. From the comments made by the Supreme Court on personal liberty, all the High Courts and lower courts of the country should learn that bail is the right of every person, while jail is just an exception. The investigation of the agencies has not been completed for months and they are not even completing their trial. They have added thousands of pages of documents in the name of trial and have put up a list of hundreds of false witnesses.

Saurabh Bharadwaj further added that earlier these investigating agencies were saying that they would finish the trial in 6 to 8 months, but even after so much time has passed, the trial has not started yet. In such a situation, how can they keep anyone in jail? This is only a conspiracy of the BJP government at the Centre to prolong the trial by filing false and fake cases against the opposition leaders and keeping big leaders of the opposition in jail under draconian laws like PMLA. Today, with this big decision of the Supreme Court, a new path has opened for all the political prisoners who are in jail or judicial custody under PMLA.

On the question of Manish Sisodia being able to work normally after his bail, Saurabh Bharadwaj said that Arvind Kejriwal got interim bail only for election campaigning, while Manish Sisodia has got regular bail. Because he remained in jail for so long, but to date not a single case has been proved against him. Therefore, till the trial is on, he cannot be kept in jail. After getting bail, he will do all his work in a normal way.

Meanwhile AAP Rajya Sabha MP from Punjab Raghav Chadha shared on his ‘X’ handle (erstwhile Twitter), “The entire nation rejoices today as the hero of Delhi’s education revolution, Manish Sisodia, has been granted bail. I express my heartfelt gratitude to the Hon’ble Supreme Court. Manish bhai was kept behind bars for 530 days. His crime being that he dreamt of giving a bright future to the poor. Dear children, your Manish Uncle is coming back.”

Celebrations started with drums at the party headquarters

As soon as the news of former Education Minister Manish Sisodia’s bail came out, celebrations began at the party headquarters. Party leaders started dancing to the beats of drums and congratulated each other by feeding sweets. The AAP leaders hailed Manish Sisodia’s bail as a victory of truth and said that soon CM Arvind Kejriwal and Satyender Jain will also be released from jail. During this, Saurabh Bharadwaj, Gopal Rai and many other leaders expressed their happiness by feeding sweets to each other.

Manish Sisodia’s bail immersed the AAP office and the people of Delhi in celebration

After the bail of Manish Sisodia, the father of Delhi’s education revolution, the people of Delhi along with the AAP office also immersed themselves in celebration. At various places in Delhi, AAP workers congratulated each other by feeding sweets and called the Supreme Court’s decision a tight slap on the conspiracy of the BJP.

Joyous atmosphere at Manish Sisodia’s house

After Manish Sisodia got bail from the Supreme Court, there was an atmosphere of great happiness in his family. Manish Sisodia will meet his family after about 17 months. His wife and other members of the family expressed their happiness by feeding sweets to each other.

Senior AAP leaders reached Manish Sisodia’s house to meet his wife

After Manish Sisodia got bail, party leaders and supporters started reaching his house. Many other senior leaders including AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh, Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj, and MLA Durgesh Pathak also reached his house and congratulated his wife on getting bail. Earlier, after getting the news of bail promptly, MP Sanjay Singh’s wife Anita Singh, senior leader Reena Gupta and many other leaders reached his house to congratulate his family.
