The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has announced that a 10-member team of lawyers will challenge the detention of its Jammu & Kashmir (J&K unit president and Doda MLA Mehraj Malik, jailed by the BJP under the Public Safety Act (PSA) for the “crime” of demanding a hospital for his people. The announcement was made on Monday by AAP’s J&K Prabhari and former Delhi minister Imran Hussain, who vowed that the party will expose the illegal detention in court and secure Mehraj Malik’s release at the earliest.
After the announcement of the legal team, AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal, along with other senior leaders, issued his statement. Arvind Kejriwal stated on X, “I am fully confident that Mehraj Malik will get justice and he will be released soon.”
Senior AAP leader and Punjab Prabhari Manish Sisodia also expressed his support on X. He wrote, “Mehraj Malik is a true and deeply honest leader, who has always raised the voice of the people with courage. Despite the excesses of power, his bravery and steadfastness in truth inspire us all. I have complete faith that he will get justice and will soon come out to further strengthen the people’s struggle.”
Meanwhile, AAP’s J&K Prabhari and former Delhi minister Imran Hussain shared details on X about a 10-member team of lawyers that will fight Mehraj Malik’s case with full strength. He stated, “The AAP stands strong with our MLA Mehraj Malik, arrested under PSA. A strong legal team led by Senior Adv. Nirmal K Kotwal with Adv. Muzaffar Khan, Adv. Sheik Shakeel Ahmad & Adv. Appu Singh (Assisting Counsel). Supported by Arvind Bandral, Joginder Singh Thakur, Gaurav Sarangal, Sandeep Sharma, Asim Hashmi & M Tariq Mughal will fight this case.”
