“Arvind Kejriwal: the only leader who understood the pulse of Delhi’s common people and transformed their lives,” declared Delhi Chief Minister and senior AAP leader Atishi at the ‘Janta ki Adalat mein Kejriwal’ in Chhatrasal Stadium.
In her address, the Delhi Chief Minister emphasized that in just ten years, the Kejriwal government achieved what other governments couldn’t in 75 years since independence. From laying 10,000 km of water pipelines to providing free healthcare and transportation for millions of women, CM Atishi credited Arvind Kejriwal with revolutionizing the city.
At ‘Janta ki Adalat mein Kejriwal’, Delhi CM and senior AAP leader Atishi stated that prior 10 years, Delhi used to face rampant and long power shedding during summers. “Before 2015, there were power cuts lasting up to eight hours. Despite this, people received exorbitant electricity bills, forcing a middle class family to cut back on other expenses to pay the bills. Women in unauthorized colonies had to stand for hours waiting for water tankers, as there were no water pipelines,” she elaborated.
The Delhi Chief Minister highlighted the dire conditions in government schools where children from poor families studied. “Upon entering, the first thing one used to notice was the foul odour from the toilets. There were no tables or chairs for the children to sit on, no blackboards, no fans, no drinking water, and no teachers,” she explained.
She added, “If someone in the family fell ill, the state of government hospitals were so bad that no one wanted to take their family member there. People would mortgage their jewellery or homes to be able to afford treatment in expensive private hospitals. Unauthorized colonies were inhabitable; there was no sewage or water.”
CM Atishi expressed that common people were troubled and frustrated with the politicians. They would see leaders come and go, with parties cycling through, but their lives remained unchanged, filled with struggles. “But a miracle happened in Delhi in 2015. The people of Delhi overwhelmingly elected their son, their brother, Arvind Kejriwal, who raised the voice of the common people, as the chief minister,” she said.
The senior AAP leader affirmed that Arvind Kejriwal is the person who understands the pain and struggles of the common people and has addressed their problems one by one. He has transformed the lives of common people, achieving in ten years what other governments could not accomplish in the last 75 years since independence.
CM Atishi shared, “Delhi is the only state where even in the peak summer season, electricity is available 24×7, and people receive zero electricity bills. This is Arvind Kejriwal’s Delhi. It is the only state where government schools have outperformed private schools. Parents are moving their children from private schools to government schools; this is the Delhi of Arvind Kejriwal.”
“Delhi is the only state in the country where treatment in government hospitals or Mohalla Clinics, whether it costs ₹500 or ₹50 lakh, is completely free, with excellent care provided, and no Delhiite has to spend a single rupee,” affirmed the Delhi CM.
She shared that over the past 10 years, Arvind Kejriwal has laid 10,000 km of water pipelines in Delhi, installed 4,200 km of sewer lines in unauthorized colonies, and constructed over 5,000 km of roads. “Women now travel for free on DTC buses; thanks to Arvind Kejriwal, over 11 lakh women use free pink tickets daily to go to schools, colleges, and jobs, solely because of him.”
She noted that the work Arvind Kejriwal accomplished in the last 10 years has disturbed the BJP. “On one side is Arvind Kejriwal, working for the poor and the common people, and on the other side is the BJP, which is an anti-poor party that seeks to trouble the impoverished.”
Delhi Chief Minister condemned the BJP’s tactics, asserting, “The central government has been demolishing ‘jhuggis’ across Delhi, making life difficult for the poor. The BJP has stopped pensions for the elderly and widows for the past six months. The LG and his cruel government have taken away jobs from 10,000 bus marshals from poor families, leaving them on the streets.”
She explained that the BJP first dismisses the poor bus marshals from their jobs and then tries to mislead them and engage in dirty politics. “But yesterday, all of the BJP’s dirty politics were exposed. The promise made by the BJP’s MLAs in front of the entire assembly to get the LG to sign a resolution has been denied by the BJP,” she stated.
Atishi shared that the BJP MLAs came to her party and requested to pass the issue of bus marshals in the cabinet. “We passed it in the cabinet and then asked the BJP MLAs to go to the LG; they started to run away because the BJP is anti-poor. Their children become BCCI chairman while the children of common people are not even bus marshals. This is the dirty politics of the BJP.”
She stated, “Today, Arvind Kejriwal has come to the people’s court because the BJP has conspired against him and the Aam Aadmi Party. Our leaders, our ministers, and our chief minister have been imprisoned. When Arvind Kejriwal was granted bail, the Supreme Court slapped tightly at the central government’s face.”
“Today, Arvind Kejriwal has come to the people’s court because the BJP has conspired against him and the AAP, imprisoning our leader, our ministers, and our Chief Minister,” she added.
When Arvind Kejriwal got bail, the Supreme Court “slapped the central government. Any other leader would have immediately returned to the Chief Minister’s chair after getting bail, but Arvind Kejriwal stated that he doesn’t want just the court’s decision; he wants the trust of the people of Delhi, and he will only sit on the Chief Minister’s chair until the people of Delhi repose their faith in him and his honesty,” declared CM Atishi.
