The Aam Aadmi Party called out the anti-women mindset of the BJP, over the issue of the eviction of CM Atishi at the behest of the LG. Senior AAP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh slammed this bullying by the LG and the BJP, on Thursday. He cautioned the LG against challenging the mandate of Delhiites, and asserted that such actions would not stop AAP’s work in service of Delhiites.
Sanjay Singh, stated that the Public Works Department (PWD) handed over the keys of the Delhi Chief Minister’s residence to CM Atishi on Sunday, and her belongings were kept inside. “On what grounds, then, did the LG throw out her belongings?,” he asked.
Asserting that the LG is working with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Sanjay Singh said, “a party that has been out of power for 27 years, losing three consecutive Delhi Assembly elections, in an attempt to take control of the Chief Minister’s residence. Is this why you’re removing a woman Chief Minister from the CM house and throwing out her belongings? The LG, who can’t even win a councillor election, is throwing out the belongings of a Chief Minister elected with the support of 62 MLAs.”
The senior AAP leader added that Arvind Kejriwal and the AAP, backed by the overwhelming support of Delhiites, were given a mandate, and this act is an insult to that mandate and to the people who chose their government. He continued, “The LG, who holds a non-elected post, placed in Delhi by the Prime Minister and Home Minister Amit Shah, is there merely to hinder Delhi’s progress and malign the elected CM and AAP leaders everyday. The same LG is throwing out the belongings of a woman Chief Minister. What kind of circus is happening in Delhi?”
He further added, “After resigning, Arvind Kejriwal vacated the CM’s residence, but the BJP continues to spread lies, which is why I call them the ‘Bharatiya Jhutha Party’ (Indian Lies Party). When an official residence is vacated, a certificate is issued to confirm it. I have the official document which clearly proves that Arvind Kejriwal vacated the house with no dues pending.”
The Senior AAP leader shared a letter from the General Administration Department (GAD). It said, ‘This is to certify that Shri Arvind Kejriwal, ex-Chief Minister, has vacated the government accommodation on 4th October 2024 after resigning from the post of Chief Minister of Delhi and who has no dues pending against him regard to payment of electricity, water, gas, and telephone bills till date.’
Sanjay Singh reasoned that the keys of CM’s residence were handed over to CM Atishi on Sunday. She placed her belongings there, and it was even shown on TV. She even held a meeting at the Camp Office. After that, the LG, backed by the BJP, bullied and forcibly had the residence vacated and had her belongings thrown out. When the LG moved into Raj Niwas, was inventory taken from the previous LG?
“This insults an elected woman Chief Minister, mandate of Delhiites, and the government. A party that hasn’t won in 27 years is now trying to take over the CM’s residence. First, they arrested Arvind Kejriwal and tried to ruin his political career, then targeted AAP leaders, and now this,” added the senior AAP leader.
Sanjay Singh asserted that the BJP is constantly devising new tactics to insult Delhi’s elected government and AAP leaders. He said, “But they can not meddle with our spirit and dedication to serve Delhiites. Under Arvind Kejriwal’s leadership, our work cannot be stopped. Free electricity, water, education, healthcare, pilgrimage for the elderly, and free bus travel for women, these are close to the hearts of Delhiites. The BJP can not tamper with this.During the sacred time of Navratri, the BJP has insulted a woman CM. Maa Durga will also teach the BJP a lesson.”
