At a series of events in Delhi celebrating Lord Valmiki Jayanti, AAP’s National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal made significant strides for the Valmiki community. The AAP Supremo highlighted his government’s milestone of appointing Delhi’s first minister and deputy speaker from the Valmiki community. In a bold move, over 600 sanitation workers’ jobs were made permanent in the MCD just this week, adding to thousands secured over the last two years. Arvind Kejriwal emphasized the timely payment of salaries and extended the same commitment to Punjab’s sanitation workers.
On the occasion of Lord Valmiki’s birth anniversary, AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal extended his heartfelt wishes to the people of Delhi. I pray that the blessings of Lord Valmiki stay bestowed upon all.
The AAP National Convenor continued, “Lord Valmiki is known as the ‘Adikavi’, the first and greatest poet of this earth, in my view. He authored the grand epic, the Ramayana, which has served as the foundation of our nation for centuries, continuously inspiring us.”
“Lord Valmiki’s life provides us with great inspiration, and since the AAP government came to power in Delhi, we have taken several decisions one after another for the Valmiki community. The AAP appointed the first minister, the first Deputy Speaker from the Valmiki community, and just yesterday, over 600 sanitation workers were regularized,” he shared.
The AAP Supremo further added that over the past two years, since the AAP government came to power in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), thousands of sanitation workers have been made permanent. This process of regularization is ongoing.
Highlighting the AAP government’s initiatives, Arvind Kejriwal mentioned, “Before our government took charge of MCD, sanitation workers did not receive their salaries for six to eight months at a time. Sanitation workers are not wealthy people; they are hardworking individuals who rely on their monthly wages to run their households, pay for their children’s school fees, and meet daily expenses.”
“They had to go on strikes just to get their salaries. Now, since our government has come to MCD, every month, in the first week, sanitation workers’ salary is directly deposited into their bank accounts,” he added.
The AAP Chief expressed, “Now, sanitation workers can live their life with dignity, without any worries about receiving their wages on time. Wherever I go, the biggest blessing I receive from the Valmiki community is the gratitude for ensuring timely salaries, which were never guaranteed before.”
Sharing an important development, Arvind Kejriwal said, “Today, our Chief Minister of Punjab has announced that just like we have begun the process of making sanitation workers permanent in Delhi, we will start this work in Punjab as well. Unlike Delhi which is a half-state (Union Territory) where these people interfere in every work. Punjab is a complete state. So we will be able to accomplish this with greater ease, and the process of giving permanent status to sanitation workers in Punjab will soon begin.”
“There is a very big temple of Lord Valmiki in Amritsar. The Punjab government has built a Chitravani and museum of Lord Valmiki there by spending Rs 32 crore in his honor. It has been inaugurated today. It has 14 big and magnificent high-tech galleries. The complete depiction of Lord Valmiki’s life has been shown there through 3D and 4D,” he shared.
The AAP chief stated, “You all should take some time and visit Amritsar to see the museum and draw inspiration from Lord Valmiki’s life. It is truly remarkable. I was seeing on social media that all the people who have gone there have come back overwhelmed that such a work could be done.”
