AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal joined devotees at East Kidwai Nagar to participate in Chhath Puja celebrations, offering prayers to Chhathi Maiyya alongside the residents during the Sandhya Arghya. Extending his warm wishes to the people of Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal emphasized the AAP-led Delhi Government’s commitment to making Chhath accessible to all, reflecting the deep cultural significance of the festival for Delhi’s Purvanchali community.
Addressing the devotees at the Chhath Ghat, Arvind Kejriwal said, “I pray to Chhathi Maiya to bless everyone with happiness and prosperity. I am pleased that this year the Delhi government has organized Chhath Puja at more than 1,800 locations across the city.”
Talking about the arrangements, he noted, “In 2015, when our government came into power, Chhath celebrations were organized at fewer than 250 locations. People had to travel far to offer their prayers. This year, with over 1,800 locations, people can perform the puja closer to their homes. May Chhathi Maiya fulfill all your wishes.”
Speaking to the media after the event, Arvind Kejriwal added, “People across the country are celebrating Chhath and worshiping Chhathi Maiya in various places. I want to extend my heartfelt wishes to everyone. The Delhi government has organized Chhath Puja at numerous locations so that people don’t have to travel far. Celebrations have been arranged in every colony and neighborhood to allow everyone to worship easily. It felt wonderful to pray together with everyone today. It’s clear from everywhere that people are enthusiastically celebrating and worshiping Chhathi Maiya.”
To create a safe and comfortable environment for worship, the AAP Government has provided a wide range of facilities at these Ghats in Delhi. Arrangements include artificial ponds, tents, lighting, cleanliness measures, medical support, and security. The Delhi Jal Board has ensured a steady water supply at the Ghats, while the Health Department has stationed medical personnel for emergency assistance. The Revenue Department has also made additional arrangements, and the Maithili-Bhojpuri Academy is hosting cultural programs at major Ghats, enriching the celebrations with traditional performances.
In recognition of Chhath’s importance to Delhi’s cultural fabric, the AAP-led Delhi Government had also declared a public holiday on November 7, allowing the Purvanchali community and all Delhiites to celebrate the Sandhya Arghya with full enthusiasm and participation.
